Canada Gold Beef - A New Value Chain Partnership…

Veterinarians have a key role to play in Canada Gold Beef. The core program requirements for CGB cattle are age and source verification, traceability, and implementation of production practices related to beef safety, animal care, and environmental sustainability.

Cow-calf and feedlot producers who are interested in participating must register their beef operations with CGB. As part of that registration process, producers must work with their herd veterinarian to develop and implement all of the CGB program requirements. Veterinarians are required to verify that their clients have implemented all of the CGB program requirements on their beef operation before that operation can be registered and sell cattle within the program. Canada Gold Beef will audit this registration process to verify to its customers that CGB cattle are produced as per CGB program requirements.

The CGB program requirements for cow-calf and feedlot producers can be found at in the CGB Producer Handbook.
